The Three Kingdoms period in China lasted from 220 CE to 280 CE. It began after the fall of the Han Dynasty. During this time, China was divided into three kingdoms: Wei, Shu, and Wu.

Each kingdom had its own rulers, armies, and territories. Battles between these states were frequent, and military leaders became well known. This period is described in historical texts and later stories such as Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

The period ended when the Jin Dynasty reunified the region. It is remembered for its political division and military conflicts.
