Sparta was a powerful city-state in southern Greece, located in the Peloponnese region. It was active from about 800 BCE to 300 BCE. Sparta was known for its strong military system.

Boys in Sparta began training as soldiers at a young age. The society focused on discipline, strength, and obedience to rules. Sparta had two kings at the same time, along with other leaders who helped govern the state.

Sparta is studied in history through records and archaeological findings. Evidence shows how its society was organized around military strength and control.
