ROH-ahld AH-muhn-suhn

Roald Amundsen was a Norwegian explorer known for polar exploration. In 1911, he became the first person to reach the South Pole. He traveled across Antarctica using sleds pulled by dogs.

Amundsen carefully planned his journey with supplies, routes, and equipment suited for cold environments. He also explored parts of the Arctic earlier in his life. His expeditions were recorded through maps, notes, and reports from the journeys.
