Moche civilization lived in northern Peru from about 100 CE to 700 CE. It developed in a dry coastal region where water was carefully managed. The Moche built irrigation systems to support farming.
They created detailed pottery that shows scenes of daily life, animals, and ceremonies. Large structures made of adobe, or sun-dried bricks, were built as temples and centers. The society was organized into different regions rather than one single empire.
Knowledge of the Moche comes from archaeological discoveries, including buildings, tools, and artwork.
