The Delhi Sultanate lasted from 1206 CE to 1526 CE. It was a series of Muslim dynasties that ruled large parts of northern India. The capital city was Delhi, which became an important center of power.

Five different dynasties ruled during this period, each controlling territory and building structures such as mosques and forts. New styles of architecture combined local and Islamic designs. Trade and cultural exchange grew across the region.

The Delhi Sultanate ended in 1526 when the Mughal Empire began. Its history is studied through buildings, records, and archaeological sites.
