Ancient period is a time in history from about 3000 BCE to around 500 CE. It begins with the invention of writing in places like Mesopotamia. This period includes many early civilizations.

Societies such as Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, and early China developed cities, governments, and written records. Large buildings, laws, and organized trade systems were common. Important texts and monuments from this time still exist today.

The ancient period is studied through artifacts, inscriptions, and early writings. It ended around the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 CE.
