Zheng He’s treasure voyages were seven large sea expeditions led by the Chinese admiral Zheng He between 1405 and 1433. These journeys were organized by the Ming Dynasty. The fleets were among the largest ever built at that time.
Some ships were over 100 meters long and carried sailors, officials, and goods such as silk and porcelain. The voyages reached Southeast Asia, India, Arabia, and the east coast of Africa. Ports along these routes became places of exchange and contact.
These expeditions created trade and diplomatic connections between regions. Records of the voyages are preserved in maps, writings, and historical accounts from the Ming period.
